It’s been a busy few years for Hope, what with making Team GB’s radical Tokyo 2020 track bike and adding the fully in-house manufactured 160mm-travel HB.916 to its mountain bike portfolio.

So the UK brand could be forgiven for having a fairly quiet Eurobike this year.

That said, we still found a few gems nestled among the colourful array of parts adorning Hope’s stand in Germany.

First to catch our eye was the all-new Gravity stem. The design takes most of its cues from Hope’s existing DH stem.

The idea, according to Alan Weatherill at Hope Tech, was to take the strength and shape of the DH stem and strip it back to a lighter design.

The 35mm option we got our hands on tipped the BikeRadar scales of truth at 173g, a decent saving over the DH’s 215g claimed weight.

The Gravity stem will be available soon, priced at £130/€150.

Next on Hope’s Eurobike list came the new 14-tooth, 12-speed jockey wheels designed specifically for SRAM’s mountain bike drivetrains.

The differential tooth profile is claimed to work smoothly, yet be durable in the mud. They’re available in numerous colours too.

Tipping our scales at 20.1g each, the jockey wheels are priced at £45 a pair (US and EU pricing TBC).

Hope’s Eurobike news also included an update to all of its 30mm bottom brackets, which now offer DUB compatibility at not extra cost.

Also on display was a set of tools and widgets designed to make Hope brake servicing easier.

Weatherill told us these tools are all based on items Hope staff have made and improved based on the experience of working with them day in, day out.

Rather than manufacture the tools and sell them to Hope’s customers, the brand is making the data files of the designs open source to allow anyone to 3D print them.
